SOLAR CONTROL GLASS

¿WHAT IS SOLAR CONTROL GLASS?
General use of glass is notorious in today’s architecture, that is why it is important to consider the comfort of buildings occupants. Solar control glass allows sunlight to pass through while it reflects a great amount of warmth from the sun.
Often specified for Windows, doors, sealings, and facades, solar control glass optimizes light transmission and high thermal performance.
Solar control glass is ideal for optimizing natural light and reflecting the highest quantity of solar heat away from the glass. The interior space remains shiny and cooler than with normal glass. Solar control glass can help to improve energy efficiency and reduce the usage of air conditioning during warmer months.

Applications:
The use of solar control glass is crucial under particular conditions, depending on the project. Both for the energy incidence and for the excessive contributions of light that are produced and, in most of its applications, it needs to be tempered, laminated or as part of a hermetic double glazing DVH, due to its intrinsic characteristics of energy absorption and for safety requirements of the installations carried out.
It can be used for:
– Facades
– Curtain walling.
Generally, it can be used in all spaces in which energy and luminosity control is needed, giving also an esthetic differentiation from the glazing.

SGG COOL-LITE KNT GLASS
It is a high-efficiency family of products given its properties at solar control and low emissivity, which allows the lowering of heat and increases insulation. This family of products has a silver coating applied nanometrically.
KNT glass is one of the best-selling glasses on the market given its high energy performance and characteristics of grey and blue tones. KNT glass offers different high-performance levels depending on the special requirements of the project, as well as different aesthetics depending on the tone desired. They are capable of controlling up to 2/3 of heat transmitted to the interior space without compromising light passing.
This contributes to less energy consumption from artificial light. Being an isolating glass, it saves significantly on energy consumption by air conditioning systems.
Benefits:
Solar Control
Thermal Insulation
Great luminosity transmission
Medium selectivity
Applications:
Facades
Malls
Hospitals
Schools
Industrial warehouse
Housing
Processing Capacity
It can be laminated (layer out of contact with PVB) but always with the layer inside de double-glazed assembly.
KNT glass is temperable.
Stripping of the layer is required before installation, as well as cutting to prevent future oxidation.
It should always be installed as a component of double glazing (DVH).
It should always be installed on face 2.
Available in 6mm
Neutral toned (KNT 140) and green (KNT 440)

SGG COOL-LITE SKN 144 II GLASS
Solar control glass with high insulation performance
It is a solar control glass with a high-performance coating. The coating is deposited on a high quality SGG PLANICLEAR glass substrate by sputtering under high vacuum conditions.
It has advanced solar control and thermal insulation features, designed to be tempered, suitable for residential and non-residential buildings.
Thanks to its coating’s unique properties, is especially adequate for applications that require tempered glass or heat hardened.
To guarantee its optimal solar control and thermal insulation performance, SGG COOL-LITE SKN 144 II must be tempered before DVH assembly.
The layer must always be positioned on face 2 and towards the inside of the chamber.
Benefits:
Designed to offer exceptional solar control and thermal insulation performance:
Very low solar factor g = 0.23.
Optimal U value = 1.1 W/m2k (6mm (layer) -16mm Argon90% -6mm)
Neutral appearance both in transmission and exterior reflection.
High levels of luminous transmission, allow the enjoyment of natural light.

Pilkington Eclipse Advantage™Glass
Fabricated using the pyrolytic process. In this on-line chemical vapor deposition process, a gas reacts to the semi-fused surface of float glass to form a subtle reflective layer above the transparent and tinted glass.
Resulting in a product that combines thermal and solar performance, subtle reflectivity, and natural light transmission control. Pilkington Eclipse Advantage ™ proposes a versatile and attractive solution to all applications where brilliant colored glass is needed, with a solar control improved performance.
Benefits:
The Low-E coating reduces the emissivity of the glass and lowers the U-Value.
It can be used as a monolithic glass.
The coated face is always recommended for the interior (face #2 in monolithic or DVH).
Low SHGC values can result in significant utility cost savings.
Available in Grey, Bronze, and Arctic Blue colors.
Provides good visible light transmission, helping to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
Low internal and external reflection, reduces uncomfortable glare from the sun and the need for blinds and curtains.
Low UV (ultraviolet) transmission. Reduced UV rays mean less fading.
Ideal for new commercial construction and replacement applications.
For better thermal control, it can be used in conjunction with Pilkington Energy Advantage™ Low-E in a DVH (#4 surface coating).
Applications:
Facades
Malls
Hospitals
Schools
Industrial warehouse
Housing
